Policeman arrested over GH¢4000 'wee' bribe due for court today

The interdicted Policeman who was arrested for demanding a GH¢1000 bribe each from four wee smokers is expected to be arraigned before court today.

Haruna Nangtoma 37 and his accomplice Yakubu Mole 26 face various charges including unlawful possession of narcotic substance, illegally possession of fireman, defrauding by false pretenses among others.

The other suspects who were also spotted smoking the dried will also be arraigned before the court on other charges, police investigators revealed to mynewsgh.com.

It would be recalled that the Kwabenya Police in the Greater Accra region arrested Haruna Nangtoma who is on interdiction and his accomplice for demanding GH¢1000 bribes from some men they spotted allegedly smoking dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.

According to police the embattled cop and Yakubu Mole 26 his accomplice, had earlier arrested the four young men for allegedly smoking the narcotic drug and were demanding GH¢1000 each from them before they could be set free.

Someone who saw them negotiating the payment tipped the police who swiftly responded and arrested Haruna Nangtoma at Atomic roundabout on board Toyoto Corolla with registration number GR 45 – 14.

The police stopped and arrested all of them but took them to the station for cautioning.

When a search was conducted on them, a wrap of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drug was found in the pocket of Yakubu Mole, a foreign pistol with No. Sigarms 60482330 and live ammunition were also found under the front passenger seat of the car, a sergeant cup and a Police Uniform were also found in the car.
