A-27-year-old trader has been dragged before an Accra circuit court for allegedly defiling a 13-year- old girl.

The accused, Isaac Okwan, is reported to have had sex with the victim (name withheld) in his container store at Medie near Amasaman, in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the prosecution led by Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbiri, the accused committed the offence at about in June this year.

Before trial judge Abena Oppong Adjin-Deku, Isaac Okwan denied the charges and was remanded into police custody until August 22, 2016.

This was after the court had refused the application for bail by Charles Ofiori, lawyer for the accused person.

The facts of the case are that the complainant is a 53- year-old resident at Medie and the victim also lives with her mother.

The prosecutor said during the month of June, the victim was passing in front of the accused person's container when he called her into his shop, offered her a seat and demanded to have sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecution stated that Isaac raised the victim's skirt, shifted her pant to one side and inserted his manhood into her private part and warned her not to tell anybody about her encounter with him.

Inspector Atimbiri said the victim did not disclose his ordeal to anyone until he fell sick and told the complainant what had happened to her, leading to the arrest of Isaac.
