Spiritualist remanded for killing taxi driver

A 21-year-old Spiritualist based in Nsuakyere has been remanded in prison custody for murdering a taxi driver at Warababa, a village in the Effutu Municipality in the Central Region.

Prince Baidoo's plea was not taken and will re-appear before the court on 14th April 2014.

Prosecution Police Detective Sergeant Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nssiah that, on 28th January, 2014 one Mr. Kweku Annan made a report at the Winneba Police station that his younger brother, Kweku Abakah, a Taxi Driver now deceased, left home on 25th January, 2014 for work and did not return.

The prosecution said, on 29th January, 2014 the Taxi was traced to the house of the suspect, Prince Baidoo, a spiritualist at Nsuakyere in the Effutu Municipality.

According to the prosecution, the accused person told the police that one Kwo Abakah gave the taxi to him as a reward for work done for him when he came to seek spiritual help.

Detective Sgt. Agbelie said intensive investigations conducted by the police revealed that the suspect (Prince Baidoo, a Spiritualist) and one Akwesi Owusu now at large, lured the decease (Kweku Abakah the Taxi Driver) to the beach at Warababa with the view to perform rituals, and succeeded in killing and buried him at the beach.

Earlier, the suspect told the court that he was possessed by a spirit that directed him to hit the neck of the deceased with a stick that resulted in his death.

In a related development, the suspect has led the police to the spot where he and his accomplish performed the act and after digging the place, they only found the skeletons of Baidoo and his dress.

The skeletons found have been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital to be sent to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy.
