Suspected robber nabbed at Lashibi

Anyagri Osuman, a 23-year-old suspected armed robber has been arrested by the Sakumono District Police Headquarters Night Patrol team in connection with a series of robbery activities in Sakumono and its surrounding communities.

Osuman, unemployed and resident of Lashibi near Ashaiman was said to have attempted to break into a house at Community 18, within the Tema Metropolis with a machete and torchlight at midnight to, allegedly, rob.

Superintendent Alex K. Wowolo, Sakumono District Police Commander told DAILY GUIDE that his outfit’s night patrols team had information at about 2:00 a.m. that some armed robbers were trying to break into a house in the aforementioned area.

According to the commander, the patrol team rushed to the scene to find Osuman in the process of breaking into the house, adding that on seeing the patrol team, the suspect took to his heels. He was however given a hot chase and apprehended by the police.

The District Commander said a search conducted on him after the arrest revealed a long sharp machete and torchlight concealed in his pair of trousers.

He commended the residents for the information given to the police, which enabled them to arrest miscreants in the area, emphasizing that his outfit would continue to depend on their tip-off to ensure protection of lives and properties in Sakumono and its environs.

Superintendent Wowolo mentioned that his personnel would continue with their operational duties in targeted areas and criminal dens to arrest suspicious characters who dawdle about late at night and engage criminal activities, so people could go about their businesses in safety.

The police boss implored the public to take their personal security seriously in order to enjoy the approaching Christmas in a peaceful manner, noting that the suspect would be arraigned when investigations were completed.
