Tema Police alerts public of activities of some criminals

Tema, Dec. 22, GNA -- The Tema Regional Police Command has appealed to members of the public especially those who patronize night clubs and drinking spots at night to be vigilant when going to such places and returning to their places of abode.

A statement signed by its Commander, As sistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jonathan Yakubu said the Police have detected that some criminals, especially car snatchers lay ambush for people who patronize such entertainment spots at night and rob them. It added that some car snatchers also hit the back of the vehicles of their victims and when the person stops to check they pounce on them and snatch their vehicles and other valuable items. It advised members of the public not to stop when such situations happen but drive straight to a nearest Police station or to a safe place for assistance.

Drivers are also advised to occasionally look through their driving mirror to check if they were being followed by a particular car and drive to a nearest Police station, it added. The statement further advised drivers to drive carefully during the yuletide by avoiding excessive speeding and drink driving and urged passengers to report recalcitrant drivers to nearest Police checkpoint.
