Security under Akufo-Addo government excellent - CVM

CVM hails Akufo-Addo's efforts in terms of strengthening security in the country CVM hails Akufo-Addo's efforts in terms of strengthening security in the country

Concerned Voters Movement (CVM), has stated that the security situation in Ghana has been improved well and continue to transform under the good leadership of President Akufo-Addo led administration.

Many Ghanaians have witnessed and still witnessing some insecurity happenings in the country since the NPP took the affairs since 2017.

Recent situation in the minds of Ghanaians is, on January 15, 2018, the Police at Odorkor, a suburb of Accra, Ghana’s capital arrested three persons in possession of a cache of explosives.

One of the suspects is believed to be a member of the dreaded terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The development came on the backs of warnings by Security analysts last year that Ghana was at a tipping point of instability, forecasting an infiltration of ISIS terrorist network into the country by 2020.

With this, the communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Asafo Adjei has called on President Akufo-Addo to resign as a President of Ghana even before his four-year mandate ends on January 7, 2021.

According to Asafo Adjei, President Akufo-Addo has failed drastically in handling security issues in the country despite being Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Arm Forces.

"President Akufo-Addo is running a parallel security, he doesn’t even care about protecting the police simply because he has given Invincible Forces, Killer Nkoto Babies, Delta Force, Kandahar-Boys power to operate freely hence the killing of Police officers continuously in the country”, he explained.

In a sharp rebuttal, the Founder and President of Concerned Voters Movement (CVM), Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku has indicated that the security issues under the President Akufo-Addo led administration is very intact but were worst under NDC administration hence the NDC doesn't have moral right to accuse President Akufo-Addo of insecurity happenings in the country.

"Before coming into Government, the state of Ghana's security was very very bad under the John Mahama's Administration. A lot of atrocities happened in the era of era of the NDC Administration which they failed to manage", he emphasized.

Rhetorically, he asked what killed the former President Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

He also asked the NDC where was the security when killing took place and recorded 684, 584 robbery cases in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

He revealed that under President Akufo-Addo's Government, the state of Ghana's security has improved significantly especially in the areas of Ecological Security, National Security, Food Security, Employment Security, Health Security, and Financial and Economic Security.
