Some members of New Patriotic Party (NPP) are accusing the parliamentary candidate for Bantama constituency, Daniel Okyem Aboagye of failing to secure them loans from defunct DKM as business start up capital.

According to the aggrieved members, the parliamentary hopeful deceived them under the guise he was working for DKM only to renege on his promise.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, Women Organiser for Bantama, Madam Salomey Addai explained that Mr. Aboagye deceived them into campaigning and voting for him to become the parliamentary candidate, yet failed to honour his part of the bargain.

She added that after voting massively for him as delegates during the party’s primaries, he refused to get them the loans for their businesses.

‘He promised to secure us loans from DKM in exchange for our votes, but he couldn’t deliver on his promise,’ she claimed.

But speaking on Abusua FM, Mr. Aboagye affectionately called Wofa Atta, denied the allegations levelled against him.

‘I introduced Opportunity International Savings and Loans to Ghana, I was the branch manager for Sinapa Aba Trust, I worked for Opportunity International in the US for five years, I have no relationship with DKM, DKM died off after three years, so what is she talking about, I never promised to get delegates loans,’ he denied.

He further dispelled allegations of promising delegates cars for votes, saying he believes in teaching people how to fish than fishing for them.

‘With my influence, one of my friends gave a loan which I used in buying ten cars for each of our electoral areas for the day to day activities, so that they pay the loan in the future without interest, that is my small way of empowering people,’ he explained.

He debunked claims by some party members in the Bantama constituency that he has dual citizenship cards.

‘I have never used the US passport or acquired American passport before, not in any country, I only use my Ghanaian passport in all my travels,’ he said.

Wofa Atta has filed a suit against some party members of accusing him of possessing fake tertiary, MBA certificates and possessing dual citizenship cards.

‘John Boadu is also my classmate, the current dean of Ghana business school Prof. Abo, we are only here to help build mother Ghana,’ he said.
