Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, has asked families of the Takoradi kidnapped girls to accept outcome of DNA tests conducted on the four human remains proving that the girls were, indeed, dead.

IGP, James Oppong Boanuh earlier informed the four families that, test conducted on samples discovered in the course of police investigations into the disappearance of the girls, turned positive as their remains.

The families on the other hand, have rejected the report, asking for an independent DNA test before they could accept the police’ position that their children are “no more”.

They have since elicited strong reaction against the report, insisting, the skeletons could not be those of their relatives.

But Rev Emmanuel Asante who spoke in an interview with www.ghanaweb.com has pleaded with the affected families to accept reality; though not easy.

He has also asked them not to allow themselves to be manipulated by anyone.

“We are all grieving with them but in the grieving we should be careful that we don’t shun the very people who are empathizing with them. They should not also allow themselves to be manipulated by anybody. I know some of the families are seeking for a second report but it’s not going to easy. They have every right to ask but we must understand that the thing is very expensive. We all go through denial phases but I want them to understand that they’re not the only ones mourning. We plead with them to think deeply and accept the reality. It will not be easy but we plead with them”.
