A man businessmen who claim's to be Alan's man is in custody

Kumasi, Nov.7, GNA - A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded Nana Opoku Agyemang, who claims to be one of the Ashanti Regional campaign managers of Mr. Alan Kyeremanten, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, into prison for allegedly extorting money in the name of the aspirant.

Agyemang is said to have extorted GH=A24,800 from a businessman in Accra under the pretext of using it to finance the campaign activities of Mr. Kyerematen in the Ashanti Religion. Police Chief Inspector Frances Kwame Kusi told the court that the accused person approached the businessman on October 3 and claimed Mr Kyerematen had sent him to collect GH=A23,000 for campaign activities in Kumasi.

The accused told the businessman that Mr. Kyerematen had promised to deposit GH A24.5millon into his account later.

Agyeman again collected sums of money on two other occasions from the businessman, raising the indebtedness to GH=A24,800. Mr Kusi said the businessman became suspicious, inquired from some close associates of the aspirant and realised that he had been defrauded.

A report was made to the police who arrested him. The prosecutor said the accused had already refunded GH A21,000 as part payment.
