Melcom has no problem with GRA Tax Policy - Management

The Director of Communications for Melcom Group of companies, Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo, has assured that his company is in full support of the Tax Stamp policy being implemented by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Speaking on behalf of Melcom group of companies, Mr. Avenorgbo disclosed that Melcom has no problem with the new policy and is most willing to go by the new directive.

He emphasized, “All items that we have imported as a group have been affixed with such stamps. We don’t have a problem with that”.

The Ghana Revenue Authority earlier this year announced the implementation of the Excise Tax stamp scheme in accordance with the Excise Tax Stamp Act 2013, Act 873. The policy particularly aimed at manufacturers and importers will help control the importation and local production of excisable goods for revenue purposes, as well as to check the under-declaration of goods and ensure the protection and increase of tax revenues.

In relating to the same issues, the managing director of GIHOC distilleries, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah has also urged other producers to accept the GRA policy even though it comes at a cost.

He believes, even though there is a cost to it, it also has benefits which out ways the cost in a greater proportion.
