Stanbic Bank has partnered with Lionesses of Africa, an organization aimed at supporting the growth and development of women entrepreneurs in Africa, to roll out a programme of action and initiatives specifically for business women.

Speaking at the event held on Tuesday in Accra, Head of the Legal Department at Stanbic bank, Doreen K. Iliasu indicated that the bank is proud to be associated with an initiative geared towards supporting women in Africa.

“Stanbic Bank is proud to be a strategic partner of Lionesses of Africa and its important purpose and mission which so closely aligns with our own of changing lives and fulfilling aspirations of entrepreneurs across the continent so Africa can realise its potential’’. She said.

According to Madam Iliasu, the bank introduced a business plan known as the Stanbic ‘Incubator’ Programme to benefit Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s) in the fields of business banking, as well as to offer office spaces for small companies.

The initiative, she added, is directed at providing innovative support for start-up businesses and also management skills for entrepreneurs.

CEO of Lionesses of Africa, Melanie Hawken is concerned that government and cooperate institutions have controlled big initiatives so far, adding that the organization intends to grow substantial businesses and create employment globally.

She added that the organization is aimed at helping African women entrepreneurs to link their products and services with potential customers as well as to connect them with the global market.
