There is a huge market for everything in our Ecowas region but so far Nigeria and South Africa have been the only African countries who have made concerted efforts to harvest these opportunities.Banking,Manufactured products and Services are the three main areas where the opportunities lie.Nigerian and South Afarican banking sytems are found in ech Ecowas country.Manufactured goods from Milo to simple equipments and machinery are also exported from Nigeria and South Africa.Meanwhile Ghana and Ghanaians live mostly on imports.Even Cocoa products are imported into Ghana.We export more jobs to other countries than any other West African Country.How do you benifit from opportunities in the Ecowas market when Ghana doesn't want use our capacity in manufacturing?What are we going to sell the other countries?Imported Goods?

Clearly President Akuffo Addo is off the mark when it comes to exploiting the prowess of Ghanaian businessmen and forging a way to penetrate ECOWAS and for that matter International trade in general. Ghana continues to rely on commodity goods instead of processing the natural resources they export.
SOLUTION: Seriously, Ghana should not only diversify the economy but also the export basket....an export basket with a wide range of unique sophisticated processed goods that fully meets the needs and wants of consumers locally and abroad. That is the answer MR president!
