The point is that the ECG as presently constituted - a state public institution is not working. The ECG ITSELF SHOULD IN FACT ADVOCATE for privatisation. Competition should be introduced so that other retailers brought on board to compete with the ECG. The monopoly which it enjoys at present encourages incompetence and inefficiency. The govt needs to be bold and privatise the retail of electricity. Govt and other public institutions will not be allowed by the private retailers to owe the huge amounts owed the ECG. IF YOU OWE, YOU ARE DISCONNECTED IMMEDIATELY. Legal action is taken to recover all indebtedness.

As I make this comment it's lights off now. I am therefore ready to pay to have lights. Sell quickly and let us sack some of the workers to have a lean and more efficient ECG in private hands.

When Telecoms was to be privatised there were uncharitable comments like "There will be no telephone communication for years". This has been proved to be wrong. Except countries like China etc, profit making public institutions in the developing world are mainly loss operating ventures. Birkorang is definitely not right. The private sector is known to be positioned to make profit and deliver efficiency. Privatising ECG is the right way to go.

Ghanaians has fail ECG for not join ECG workers to demonstrate against the sale or privatization of ECG.Our president is making a big mistake to put live line in jeopardy to please his thinking masters the IMF and the world bank who deception policies that create kwashiorkor economy growth prompt government to beat chest that surpass King Kong chest beat in record setting.Ghanaians will live to regret if they don't join ECG in solidarity to demonstrate and warn buys to stay out of purchase their ECG which our irresponsible corrupt president who has no right to sell is doing because there is no referendum backing the privatization.Folks when you allow Mahama to sell ECG they will hold Ghana at ransom and collapse all industries as foreign companies will use their influence to sabotage power supply for huge money to collapse our industries. The word to the wise is enough. Our president has never made decision on his own and he is doing that to please IMF and World Bank because they know he is a fool.
