I have a problem with the way the Trade Minister thinks. For example his motivation for holding the Ghana-China Investment Forum is to attract the Chinese to bring their machines so they process things and sell to countries in the sub-Region. To what extent does this help Ghana? Who benefits most? It is china. They will bring machines that can produce tonnes of things, label and package so we have very little job for humans to do. Aside of that, they bring Chinese expects to man the plants and hold key positions so the jobs left are for labourers and lowaid jobs. Thirdly, we give them all the tax incentives into the millions for sometimes up to 15 years and go round chasing small Ghanaian businesses for all sorts of taxes. These Chinese apart from borrowing at very low interest rates, also have Export Support Fund. They get incentives for operating abroad . So when they bring their machines, their companies get huge incentives for bringing equipments and that is how a serious cou try thinks. In Ghana, one barely enjoys any incentive.
How do you want Ghaians companies to compete?
If the politicians are thinking right, they should be looking at the example of Dubai and even Nigeria. You must have a local partner and in the case of Dubai, the local partner must have 51% shares or above for you to be able to operate there. If you want to operate in the Free Zone in. Dubai, they provide you the structure and you pay and pug in. This way, the state makes money from rent etc. in Dubai, the number of Foreigners you can bring in to work is determined by the volume of investment and several other factors. That is even an economy that doesn't have unemployment challenges.
But look at us, our teaming youth do not have jobs yet we are eager to give our other resources to others in the name of industrialization. We have good intentions but due to lack of knowledge, we perish. We are always using the wrong approach and it is not helping us. OUR
EADERS CAN LEARN FROM AGI, GCCI, PEF etc. the politicians who haven't created any jobs before must engage with entrepreneurs to learn from them how best we can expand varios industries in Ghana.

You think I am wrong? Go and see what Gold Mining has done to places like Tarkwa. Check the livelihood of the people and even the state of infrastructure and you will feel sorry if you are indeed a normal Ghanaian. You are the type of person who looks at GDP to determine how well we are developing regardless of whether workers and queuing to go to public toilet before the bath, whether people have to queue for over an hour to catch a bus, whether people are able to access healthcare etc. you need to be properly schooled to correct me. Go and try setting up a business In Dubai where our politicians buy properties, and you will have proof of what I said. Keep your backward development indicators and lectures to yourself.
