If you look at the 5 cedi note you would see the picture of the Big six; so called because they were prepared to die for Ghana to achieve independence for which they were imprisoned. Of the six 3 were Akyems and a fourth was married to an Akyem who became the first lady.
Why then do you hate Akyems?
J. B. Danquah stood for president and was not successful. William Ofori-Attah stood for president and was not successful. Akufo Addo who is half Akyem has his story unfinished.
Akyems make up more than half of the population of the Eastern Region. Today because of negative government developmental practices from independence some have become so proud that they can look at Akyems condescendingly.
Over the last 100 years revenue from the Akyem-Akwatia Diamond mine, alluvial gold, cocoa and palm oil from Akyem have been used to develop the whole of Ghana including providing scholarships for some Ghanaians.

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.
He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.
“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”
“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

What stop a single person in Ghana from building wind farm to generate cheap electricity for the community without involving the government. Purely opposition creation.

IT IS NOT THE QUESTION OF SHORT TERM ENERGY MEASURES, THE MAIN PROBLEM OF THE ENERGY FALL OUT IN THE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE, GHANA FAILED TO BUILD AN EXTRA DAM TO STORE WATER AND TO PUMP it TO MAIN DAM WHEN THE LEVEL WATER AT THE MAIN DAM WAS LOW FOR THE TURBINES TO GENERATE POWER.
OPAYIN NYARKO, AS AN ENERGY EXPERT, WHY DID YOU FAIL TO TOUCH ON RENEWABLE ENERGY, SOLAR AND WIND, AND ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION OF HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY USING THE RESOURCES OF OFFIN AND PRA RIVERS TO FOR THE SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY TO CENTRAL AND WESTERN REGIONS.
WE NEED TO KNOW THAT AKOSOMBO CANNOT CONTAIN ENERGY SUPPLY FOR THE WHOLE OF GHANA.
TIME WE LEARN FROM THE EXPERIENCES OF OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD.
WHY HAVE WE STILL FAILED TO BE OBJECTIVE IN OUR RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS.
WHY HAVE THE FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING WITH ITS NUMEROUS STAFF, DEAN,HEAD OF DEPARTMENT,PROFESSORS AND LECTUURERES KEPT THEIR SILENCE.
DO YOU KNW WHAT, ONCE THE SO CALLED EDUCATED DO NOT HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION, WE WILL CONTINUE TO FACE ENERGY AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS IN GHANA.
BEWARE.

I do hope that the best excuse to come from this so-called energy economist, S.O. Nyarko, is that he was not in Ghana some 10-years back and just fell from the sky unto the Ghana market to see our electricity mess.
The moment Kufour and his men concocted a scheme to cheat consumers of Ghana electricity out of their meager wages and salaries all well meaning Ghanaians should have suggested taking, not some but all, government buildings off the grid and unto its own wind or solar energy scheme. With government operations off the “dumsor” scheme and unto a sustainable and continuous supply of electricity, government could have relied on automation of office work flow processes unto computerized network system to generate foot prints to track abuses of government. We need to make decisions when they matter and not when the most harm to Ghanaian souls have taken their toll.
