The paramount chief of Upper Dixcove traditional area, Obrempong Hema Dekyi, has endorsed the candidature of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the best person to lead Ghana.

Describing Nana Akufo-Addo as a mentor and statesman whose credentials are worth emulating, Obrempong Dekyi said he believes Ghanaians are discerned enough to make the right choice in the December 7 general elections.

The paramount chief said this when Nana Akufo-Ado paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of Lower and Upper Dixcove traditional area in the Ahanta West District as part of his three-day campaign tour the Western Region.

“There a few people in this country that I have closely followed and I always learn something from them. Nana Addo, you are one of them. I must admit this afternoon that you’re a hero; you’re a mentor. We want to tell all to learn something from you,” he said.

He said it is unfortunate that the thirst for political power in the country sometimes pushes people to make derogatory statement about our statesmen, noting there is nothing that people can do to soil the good reputation of Nana Akufo-Addo who is making his third attempt at the presidency.

The chief said one thing that Nana Akufo-Addo once said that has always been on his mind is he is “not a perfect man but an honest man”.

I’m not praising Nana Addo for money

Obrempong Dekyi pointed out that his praise for the NPP presidential candidate should not be politicised.

“We are not doing politics and it is not because I am a member of the party. Nana Addo, I’m not saying this for you to give me money or give me something. I don’t need anything. I cherish the little that God has given me,” he said.

He described Nana Akufo-Addo as an honest man who does not fear to “call sin by its right name, who cannot be bought or sold” and will stand for the truth, noting such are the great men that the world needs.

Thumbs up for clean campaign

The paramount chief lauded Nana Akufo-Addo for keeping a clean election campaign, which he said, all politicians seeking high office should exhibit at all times. “You have kept the campaign very clean and it is highly recommendable. We will urge all politicians to learn from you,” he told Akufo-Addo.

“You’ve have waited patiently in the midst of trials and afflictions but you have never been moved, you’ve never been known for violence. You’re a man of peace! I do not care about what others will think because my life does not depend on them. What God tells me is what I’m telling you,” he said.

Obrempong Dekyi added: “Nana, you’ve waited upon the Lord, it is only God who will honour you. If people have not seen you God has”.

Nana Akufo-Ado on his part pledged to ensure the people of Dixcove receive their fair share of the national cake especially with the construction of a sea defence and the main road leading to the town.

He expressed disappointment at the Mahama-led government for woefully failing the people of the Western Region, and Ghana as a whole in the midst of abundant resources.

Nana Akufo-Addo has thus urged the people to vote for him and the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Ahanta West, Ebenezer Kojo Kum for total development.
