Will people stand by Obinim, Opambour if they were the ones – Dr. Addai quizzes

The former Dean of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST’s) Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Otchere Addai Mensah, is of the firm believe that Ghanaians are treating Dr. Mensa Otabil with kids gloves as the narrative would have been different if popular prophets, Daniel Obinim and Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom were the ones caught in this ‘bank collapse’ scandal.

The leadership and membership of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) pledged its total support and loyalty to their founder Dr Mensa Otabil, who has been widely discussed in the media in the past week as far as events that led to the collapse of Capital Bank, which he chaired, are concerned.

They stated in a statement that Dr. Mensah Otabil has demonstrated integrity to the highest level throughout the period and many of them have built their Christian character around the values he continues to exhibit.

And so at a time like this, they affirm their full loyalty to him and celebrate him as the embodiment of Christian character.

Commenting on this statement on Kumasi based Angel FM in an interview with Kwame Tanko monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the KNUST lecturer remarked that, it is an insult on the Ghanaian character and the total tenets of the country as some people are being mystified in our societies which should not be so.

‘Kwame, will these I stand with you people be saying the same thing if it was Obinim or Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom who had committed these blunders?…Will the narrative still be the same?

Let’s not do this to ourselves as a country. Men who give us a higher standard of integrity must be held to that standard. You can’t stand with Otabil if you have Ghana at heart and you can’t keep quiet on this too.’

Also, the founding President of think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, is of the believe that as board chairman he [Pastor Otabil] must take ultimate responsibility and ensure that they redeem the GHS 610m by not only selling assets of his CEO and others, but also some of his own, to make up to the loss he has cost the state.
