National Communication Director of largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)., Sammy Gyamfi has accused Akufo Addo of engaging in corruption citing the Ameri Innovation dark as one of such.

He said “don’t be misled, the Ameri Deal was not a ministerial act but a presidential act, the president gave executive approval to the deal, if an ordinary person like me Sammy Gyamfi, or NDC or ACEP could read the same document, Hon. Agyyarko presented to Akufo Addo and comes into conclusion that figures have been inflated by $800, million dollars, you are telling me the President a lawyer by many years standing has so many experts and technocrats at his disposal could not come to that conclusion that the deal was inflated, I am telling you today that Akufo-Addo was the one who personally inflated the deal by$800, million dollars .”

He pointed out that if the president commits a crime and decide to sacrifice a minister you think I should absolve the person for liability? He is the boss he can fire everybody, but for the vigilance of the NDC, he would defraud the country by $800, million dollars.

Speaking on Metro TV to respond to some allegations made by the Vice President Dr. Bawumia during the Results Fair in Kumasi, Sammy Gyamfi stated that the NDC under John Mahama investigated and punished corrupt officials, something Akufo-Addo cannot do in spite of the plethora of allegations of corruption against his appointees.

“Under John Mahama in the GYEEDA case, we allowed credible investigation in the conduct of our own appointees for engaging in illegal scandals e.g is Abuga Pelle is currently serving a jail term for corrupt acts.”

He chastised Akufo Addo for not having the political will to punish his corrupt appointees, “you don’t fight corruption by setting up institutions, you fight corruption by punishing those who fall foul of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.”

He said the President who should be fighting corruption, comes into the office and turns into a corruption clearing agent who whitewashes and endorses corrupt acts of his errant appointees.
