Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo says Ghana is teetering on the edge of the abyss of a total developmental wipeout under the Akufo-Addo government.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on Wednesday, September 19, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was of the strong view that President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government have failed Ghanaians woefully, and cannot develop the country.

To him, the President's promises to turn the fortunes of the country around economically were mere rhetoric as two years of his reign have plunged Ghana into a state of near-comatose.

According to him, though the economy might be said to be growing steadily, government spending under control and foreign direct investment is flooding in, crucial structural problems still persist.

He cited the astronomical hike in petrol prices, the collapse of some seven indigenous banks, weak and underdeveloped capital markets and the poor state of the Komenda Sugar Factory among others as a major sign that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nothing better to offer the citizenry.

According to Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, "this country is heading towards the wrong direction under NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo".

He believes the only Savior for Ghana is the NDC and so called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the party in the next elections to rescue them from the "jaws of this kind of super incompetence in the country today”.

"The direction this country is going calls for a rescue mission and that’s why the NDC is reorganizing itself to embark on this rescue mission", he added.
