Oppon Sasu and associates donate medical equipment to health centres

Mr Oppon Sasu, Chairman of Mpraesomankuo, a benevolent society and family have presented medical supplies worth GHC65,000 to health centres in three Mpraeso settlement communities in the Kwahu West Municipality.

The contributors to the donation include; Dr (Mrs) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Breast Care International, a non- governmental organization and Peace and Love Hospitals in Accra and Kumasi, Mr Samuel Asante Boateng, a pharmacist at the Food and Drugs Authority and Mr Richard Asante, pharmacist at the Pharmacy Council.

The beneficiary communities are; Oframoase, Nkawanda No.2 and Jejeti Station.

The items were; wheelchairs, infrared thermometers, first aid medications, theatre gowns, scrubs, boxes of bottled water and nosemasks.

At a ceremony to hand over the items; Mr Sasu who represented the family and the donors said, the donation was through a joint effort of the Mpraesomankuo and the Mpraeso Caucus, benevolent societies headed by Nana Abrah Appiah, who doubles as the Krontihene of Kwahu Mpraeso.

He said the Mpraesomankuo and the Mpraeso Caucus have contributed to the development of villages under Kwahu Mpraeso in the Kwahu West Municipality by donating medical supplies to health centres in the area in a bid to fight the novel coronavirus in the municipality.

He explained that the gesture was their contribution towards the effective running of health centres in the area in support of the fight against the COVID- 19 pademic in the beneficiary communities in the Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region.

Mr Sasu said, the association had embarked on a number of development projects since he took office as Chairman of the association including; provision of scholarships to needy but brilliant students at all levels of education, organizing quizzes for basic and Senior High Schools and the construction of a durbar ground for the Mpraeso community to promote socio- economic activities in the area.

He said the association also planned to provide toilet facilities for villages in Mpraeso communities to help improve on sanitation to eliminate open defecations in the area.

Mr Sasu assured managements of the facilities of more assistance in the coming years and advised them to ensure proper maintenance of the items donated to them.

Madam Celestina Asante, the Kwahu West Municipal Director of Health Services, who received the items on behalf of the institutions, thanked the donors for the gesture and assured they would be used for their stated purposes.

She appealed to other citizens of the area to emulate the example of the Mpraesomankuo by providing them with required tools.
