There is disquiet among staff of the Ghana Health Service following the appointment of Dr. Nsiah Asare as new head or the state organization, Starr News has learnt.

The NPP founding member and former head of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is taking over from Dr. Appiah Denkyira who was appointed by the former Mahama administration.

Starr News sources say staff of the health service are uncomfortable with the age of their new director general, who is over 60 years.

Mr. Asare was earlier tipped to be heading for the National Health Insurance Authority but ended up at the GHS.

Speaking to Starr News, Dr Asare said he is upbeat about the appointment and will deliver in order to justify the confidence reposed in him by the president.

” It is not everybody who will like anybody’s appointment. It is only in this country that people think that when you are old, you have nothing in your head. If anybody has any problem with my appointment, they should direct it to the appointing authority, but I think the appointing authority saw something very good in me, and i believe with God on my side, I will use the skills and knowledge I have acquired over years to the betterment of the country as I go into that office,” he said.
