NPP communicators abandon embattled PPA Boss in his mess

Communicators of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have abandoned the embattled Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Adjenim Boateng Adjei in his mess.

As at midday on Thursday, August 22, 2019 there was no attempt by members of the party’s communications team to come to the aid of the man who has dominated media discussions for his role in the exposé by investigative journalist, Manasseh Azuri Awuni.

Whereas some of them condemned him and hailed the journalist, others described him as greedy and want him prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others if found culpable.

Some completely stayed off from commenting on the issue that left many particularly colleague appointees in various government positions in shock.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has suspended Adjenim Boateng Adjei with immediate effect to allow for the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate him.

A statement earlier released by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin noted that President Akufo-Addo has subsequently, referred the allegations involving conflict of interest to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and those relating to potential acts of corruption to the Office of Special Prosecutor, for their prompt action.

It would be recalled that in a documentary by Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azuri Awuni titled “Contracts for Sale” the PPA Boss was said to have established his own company under the name Talent Discovery Limited incorporated in June 2017 which has won a number of government contracts through restrictive tendering.

Adjenim Boateng Adjei claims the company engaged in the sale of government contracts belonged to his brother-in-law one Francis Arhin and his wife Mercy Adjei but later indicated that he was a part shareholder creating a case of conflict of interest.
