NPP Primaries: Delegates root for Free Zones CEO

Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Free Zones Board, Kofi Okyere Baafi Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Free Zones Board, Kofi Okyere Baafi

Ahead of the parliamentary primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party slated for April this year, the New Juaben South constituency of the Eastern Region is one of the areas expected to attract attention.

The current Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, who is also, the Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament, is expected to be in battle with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Kofi Okyere Baafi.

Reliable information gathered by Nsemgh.com indicated that, most delegates within the constituency are yearning for Mr. Baafi as the incumbent is been accused of being hostile to both constituency executives and delegates.

Dr. Assibey Yeboah is also accused of not performing to the task in delivering on his campaign promises prior to his election.

Despite being active in the House of Parliament, most delegates are of the view that a replacement will be the best choice if only the party want to redeem its declining popularity in the constituency.

Some delegates who spoke to reporter revealed that, Mr. Okyere Baafi, even before his appointment, has contributed immensely to the party by supporting both party members and the general populace at large, no matter one’s political affiliation.

“Mr. Okyere Baafi has supported most people in the constituency, especially the youth so we are hopeful he is a better choice to Dr. Assibey Yeboah who does not even have any respect for us”.

“Dr. Assibey Yeboah is indeed performing well in Parliament but there’s one thing he must know, that is, to remember his promises he made to us in 2016” some delegates stressed.

Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, in 2019 was hauled by the people of Koforidua after making a U-turn on whether the regional capital need an overhead.

The MP is on record to have stated that, Koforidua does not need an overhead when he was granted an interview on the matter in 2019.

However, Mr. Okyere Baafi has been visible to the people in the constituency in the last years, engaging himself in many activities, being personal or in the name of the party.
