NCS to expand operations

SUBSCRIBERS to Internet, e-mail and electronic commerce services from Network Communications Systems (NCS) Limited are to receive an enhanced and improved services from the end of October, this year when the company?s newly installed $350,000-antenna hoe becomes operational. With the installation of this antennae measuring 7.3 metres it can transmit 16 megabytes data at the rate of two megabytes per second.

Mr. William Tevie, General Manager of NCS in an interview in Accra said among the advantages to be derived are the development of the electronic commerce initiative and easy access to web site pages. He said that the over 10,000 subscribers and 25 corporate links will no more experience much problems as the company has also got up to 200 lines, which presently have 50 of them activated. Mr Tevie explained that the Ghana domain which is hosted in Ghana has a mirror site in US and Europe which makes it possible for the sites in Ghana to be accessed easily throughout the world. He said that those in the far East and Japan have to access the sites through Europe.

To ensure that the public are in tune with the changing trends in the Information Technology (IT), Mr. Tevie said NCS organises series of workshops every three months to upgrade the knowledge of the users, engineers and technicians. In another development, Dr. Nii Narku Quaynor, Chief Executive Officer of NCS is to participate in an international conference on IT in the US next month. The conference is under the auspices of the Bill Gate Empire.
