The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has claimed that Professor Kwesi Botchwey is no match for Former President Mahama.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, he stated that the former minister of finance will be disgraced if NDC goes to the polls to select a flagbearer for the 2020 elections.

He went on to say that the Central Region has no chance again to lead the NDC in such high positions.

In his opinion, everybody knows that John Mahama will emerge as the winner in the contest. Central Region, our time for such positions is gone and therefore Kwesi Botchwey who is an asset to the people of the Central Region should not contest for the flagbearership position.”

He noted that John Dramani Mahama will emerge the winner and therefore there is no need for an individual bright such as him to contest John Mahama.

Allotey Jacob indicated that with Prof. Kwesi Botchwey’s track record, he should rather support Mahama so he makes him the head of economic management team.

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Mahama announced his interest in contesting as flagbearer for the NDC.

According to him, he owed a duty to both God and Ghana to bring the NDC out of opposition.

His announcement was soon followed by an endorsement by 94 Members of Parliament (MP).

They revealed that they are ready to avail their resources to ensure that Mahama becomes president in 2020.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that some NDC members had allegedly picked forms for Professor Botchwey to contest as chairman of the party.

He however stated that he had not authorized anyone to do that on his behalf, and at the right time, he will come out with his decision.
