As part of its commitment to Ghanaians, Hollard Ghana, made up of subsidiaries, Hollard Insurance and Hollard Life, showed care to twenty thousand motorists by paying their tolls twice last week.

The activity rounded up the insurance group’s customer service month celebration.

Motorists driving saloon and 4x4 vehicles were treated to free entries at six toll booths in Accra on Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Each motorist arriving at the Amrahia, Ashiaman, Ayi Mensah, Kasoa, Tema and Accra Bound Motorway Toll Booths was met with a smile as Hollard staff welcomed and waved them off without paying. Wearing branded purple shirts with “We’ve got you covered” on the back, Hollard staff engaged motorists waiting in line on the benefits of insurance.

Explaining why the group decided to pursue this unusual way to show care to motorists, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Hollard Ghana, Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo said the activity aligned to the company’s purpose.

“We are unconventional at heart because we do well by doing good. We seek to enable more people to create and secure better futures and to become the country’s favourite insurer. This underpins all we do, whether it’s roadside assistance as part of motor insurance, life insurance that covers extended family, paying claims efficiently; or sponsoring tolls, we always treat people with care and dignity. In the spirit of Customer Service Month, sponsoring tolls is a touchpoint for us to spread joy, meet and interact with our customers and potential customers.”

Hollard Ghana insists the act is not a flash-in-the-pan. “This is not a one-off activity limited to only our customers. It’s for all motorists; a small way to ease the burden on their usual commute. We’ve done this twice in the past and will continue intermittently in the future to ultimately help increase insurance penetration. Ghanaians should know we’ve got them covered,” Ms. Ofori-Dwumfuo added.

Motorists who benefitted from the toll booths were seen driving away with smiles. Speaking to reporters, some thanked the company for their altruistic actions and shared expectations that other companies will do same.

In related news, Hollard has extended its altruism to Kumasi, Tema, and Takoradi where the company is paying for car washes for saloon and 4X4 car owners as part of customer service month and insurance education drive.

Hollard Ghana combines its deep local knowledge of the market with the world-class expertise of an international insurance brand. Headquartered in South Africa but with feet firmly planted on Ghanaian soil, Hollard delivers innovative insurance solutions customised to the unique risks Ghanaians face.

Hollard Insurance Ghana, formerly called Metropolitan Insurance Company (MET) operated successfully in Ghana for 25 years, until it rebranded as Hollard Insurance Ghana in 2015 adding on Hollard Life Assurance Ghana in 2018. Hollard Ghana Holdings Limited is a subsidiary of Hollard International which manages the international portfolio of the Hollard Group currently operating in 18 countries in Africa and Asia.
