Reverend Jonas Kwame Cosmos Kumah Tengey, the Greater Accra Regional Pastor of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), has called on Ghanaians to pray for the success of the incoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

He said Ghanaians must all pray for the hand of God to come upon Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the President-elect and his team so that they would be able to spearhead the nation's socio-economic development agenda.

"May the Lord's good hands come upon the nation for progress in every aspect of the nation in 2017 and beyond," Rev Tengey said in his Christmas homily at the Grace Temple Branch of GCCI at Christian Village, Tema.

"As a nation, we all need to thank God Almighty for His faithfulness and blessings upon us in this year 2016 which is about to end," he said.

"As we all cried unto God for peace before, during, and after the election on December 7, God truly answered us because of His mercies," he said.

He said: "Now, to enjoy the year 2017 and beyond, we need, as a nation and as people of God, to humble ourselves, pray, seek the face of God, and turn from our evil ways to do His will alone."

Rev Tengey also urged Christians to seek the favour of God, which according to him would make them excel in all their endeavours.
