Employed persons who fail to complete National Service to be prosecuted

The Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, Mustapha Yusif has served notice that the Secretariat will soon start prosecuting persons who have failed to complete the one year mandatory national service but are employed.

He revealed that a Taskforce has been set up to identify such persons working in both public and private institutions.

“The enforcement unit will identify such a person and such people will be prosecuted as the law prescribes. The institutions that recruit people who have n’t done national service, it’s an offence and it’s against the laws of this country."

"If you are an individual and at the time of your graduation from the university you’re above forty years, the law says you may apply for exemption. And the Board will then sit on the application and then either approve your exemption or not.”Mustapha Yusif stated.
