Issahaku Tahir Moomen and Abdulai Yaquob respectively had 100% endorsement from the assembly members and were sworn into office by the two regional ministers on behalf of the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama.

Issahaku Tahir Moomen for Wa Municipal polled all 44 votes of members of the assembly representing the 100%.

All the 59 elected members and government appointees also voted in favour of Abdulai Yaquob representing 100% endorsement.

Both elections were conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission in a fair and transparent manner.

In his speech, the DCE for Nanumba North expressed worry over hatred, sporadic gunshots heightening tension in the area, confusion by feuding factions, chieftaincy conflicts and bloodshed in Bimbilla indicating that Nanumbas and Konkombas are not enemies.

He bemoaned bad roads, poverty and diseases in the area and called for concerted efforts in dealing with the three he said are enemies to development of the area.

“Don’t let us destroy ourselves. Say no to violence and embrace peace and development. I will place premium on restoring peace in the district to pave way for development. I will be firm and resolute and wish to call on stakeholders to support in making the district an agricultural hub of the north”, he disclosed

Abdulai Yaquob also promised to address the falling standards of education in the district as well as put all roads in good shape, improve on healthcare delivery among other issues.

“I will position the district to benefit from the one district one factory, dams and other government policies and programmes”, he added.
