Minister-nominee for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee today to be quizzed regarding her portfolio.

She among other things dismissed claims suggesting she was involved in a fraud scandal with some American business partners, indicating that it was a mere conspiracy against her.

According to her, she had never been charged with fraud nor did she have any criminal background, adding that the said case was purely a civil matter of a ‘business relationship gone bad’.

Mrs. Afeku also admitted before the Committee that she did not undertake her National Service as required by the laws of the country.

She explained that she had to travel to Kenya Nairobi immediately after her tertiary education hence her unavailability to carry out her one-year mandate.
