The Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) has reopened market centres in the capital, Accra after a massive disinfection exercise on Monday.

Reports say several markets in the heart of the capital such as the Adabraka market among others have this morning resumed brisk activities.

Government explained that the move was intended to prevent the spread of the dreaded covid-19 pandemic.

About 1000 markets have been earmarked for the nationwide disinfection exercise on the back of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Some 137 markets were closed down for the exercise in the capital, Accra yesterday.

This is in line with the President’s directive on measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
