Former Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, has asked President Akufo-Addo to stop Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia from 'talking' because 'anytime he talks, the cedi falls'.

According to him, immediately Dr Bawumia spoke about the cedi on Wednesday at the maiden Town Hall Meeting organised by the Economic Management Team, the cedi depreciated, according to Bloomberg.

Per Bloomberg's report (as stated by Ato) the Ghana Cedi was GHS5.30 to a dollar as at Wednesday; suggesting that had the Vice President kept quiet, the cedi wouldn't have gone up again.

Speaking at a lecture by the opposition party on the performance of the economy, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP said, "I will urge the president to restrain his vice-president because anytime he speaks, the currency moves,” the former Deputy Minister of Finance stated at the opposition National Democratic Congress’ public lecture on Ghana's economy in Accra on Thursday, 4 April 2019.

"....You heard him talk about the likes of the judiciary and the court systems. What has that got to do with the economic management team? He had nothing to say. He was just playing with numbers. And again, you know him and his credentials of lying with numbers. You could see lies,”
