Government committed to strengthening private business - Osei Assibey

Mr. Osei Assibey-Antwi, Chief Executive officer of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to implement effective policies to strengthen private business operations to bring about economic growth and development.

He said the “Ghana beyond aid” strategy could be achieved only when the private sector was made to play a leading role in the business environment.

Mr Assibey-Antwi stated this in an address read for him at the launch of “Indutech Trade Fair 2018” in Kumasi.

The fair, which would be held from October 26 to November 4th, this year on the theme “accelerating industrial growth in Ghana: exhibiting what we have” formed part of activities marking the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).

It will seek to bring Ghanaian companies and their foreign counterparts together for business linkages and promotion of general goods and services.

Mr. Assibey-Antwi praised AGI for its instrumental role in championing the course and promotion of businesses in the country.

Mr. Kwasi Nyamekye, Vice-Chairman of AGI, said the Fair would afford industry players opportunity to exhibit made in Ghana products, showcase the various hospitality industries to attract customers and clients.

Among the products to be showcased at the fair are; wood products, garments, food and beverages, pharmaceutical products and building materials.
