The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has stated that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is engaging in ‘one-district-one-minister appointments describing it as laughable and shameful.

The President has come under heavy criticisms for appointing 110 ministers, deputies and ministers of state of which some ministries have more than two deputies.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Mr Nketia said the Akufo-Addo’s government deceived Ghanaians into believing that they will change the fortunes of the country by winning their votes.

He said the President is throwing dusts in the eyes of Ghanaians by claiming the ‘collapsed economy’ needs to be fixed by a huge number.

He questioned why the President would engage in act that will burden the public purse when it could be invested in other areas.

The General secretary of NDC lashed out the President for not knowing the intricacies of governance adding that the government does not need huge number of ministers.

He anticipated that the country is likely to have two ministers for each district asking if they are the ones going to do the bigger part of the job.

‘Nana Addo is engaging in one-district-one minister appointments, and its really laughable, am restricted to comment on it, everything about his government is one this, one that, one-village-one-dam, one region-one-million, he is just toying with the country. They deceived Ghanaians to vote for them with their empty promises. He thinks large size of ministers make good government, no, we will vote them out in 2020,’ he pointed out.
