Commonwealth Games: Narh picks 10th position in Powerlifting

Ghana’s disable Powerlifter Charles Teye Narh, placed 10th in the Men’s 72kg competition on the last day of the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Narh, lifted 135kg and 140kg, in the second and last attempt, whilst his first attempt of 135kg was ruled a bad lift.

The Powerlifter, could have done better but for challenges with his weight, days before the competition.

Narh, who is a double amputee had challenges with his prosthetic legs which kept him indoors for four days, which resulted in overweight.

The disable Powerlifter, weighed 72.07kg and had to shed 07, before competing.

Coach Peter Adjei, told the GNA Sports, the processes involved in the weight shedding affected the strength of his athlete as he lost a lot of energy.

“It was a very stressful experience for him. He struggled to move around the Games village because of the distance from his room to the transport point.

“He got injured in the process and had to compete with the injuries. But we have learnt very useful lessons from the Games and will learn to improve upon in future”.
