South Africa’s Zulu Regent Queen Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu was on Thursday laid to rest at the KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace in KwaNongoma, northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The Regent was interred at the crack of dawn in a private burial, in line with her wishes.

A Memorial Service for the Zulu Regent will take place today, Friday at KwaKhangelamankengane Palace, Nongoma at 10.00am.

The South African Police Service will provide ceremonial elements, while the National Flag will be half-masted throughout the Province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Funeral proceedings will comply with all the COVID-19 lockdown regulations.

Queen Dlamini Zulu died on April 29 aged 65, just over a month after she took the role following the death of her husband, King Goodwill Zwelithini.
