African transfer rumour power ranking

Onana has been linked with Arsenal Onana has been linked with Arsenal

#6 Lemina to Newcastle

This one appears to be dead in the water.

While Newcastle United had appeared to be keen on the Gabon international, who is out of favour at Southampton, it appears as though they are unwilling to meet the Saints’ asking price.

A fee of £4 million doesn’t appear too hefty, but miserly Magpies owner Mike Ashley is unwilling to meet this fee for a 27-year-old!

Lemina was part of the Fulham team who were relegated last term, but still might have something to offer a Prem club…if he can find a suitor!

#5 Onana to Arsenal

There’s been little progress on Onana-to-Arsenal rumours since our last transfer rumour power ranking, with the Gunners understood to have left the Cameroon international doubting the role he would play at the Emirates Stadium.

While Onana was keen to have been given assurances that he would be the outright No. 1 at the club, Arsenal have not yet made the promise that he would be the undisputed starter ahead of Bernd Leno.

The Londoners’ hesitation may have opened the door for Olympique Lyonnais, who are also understood to be keen on recruiting the 25-year-old.

#4 Sadiq to Man City

Coming off the back of a fine campaign in the Spanish second tier last term, Nigeria’s Sadiq could be on the move.

He bagged 20 goals in 40 league outings for Almeria, prompting reported interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.

It’s an unlikely move, particularly considering Sadiq’s reported €60 million price tag.

AS believe that the Citizens are planning to loan him to Ligue 1 new boys Troyes which, considering his age and transfer fee, would be a fairly baffling move for Pep Guardiola’s side.

#3 Madueke to Borussia Dortmund

German giants Borussia Dortmund are understood to be keen on PSV Eindhoven wonderkid Noni Madueke according to reports in the Dutch press.

The starlet, who is eligible for Nigeria and England, was featured in Goal’s NxGn series, and appears destined for the top of the game.

As yet, there’s been no official offer in from BVB, but if they decide they do want to commit to a deal for Madueke, this is a transfer that could make a lot of sense for both player and buying club.

#2 Ziyech to AC Milan

AC Milan are understood to have identified Ziyech as their top target as they look to fill the void left by Internazionale-bound Hakan Calhanoglu.

Sky Sports believe that Milan are primed to push to recruit the Morocco playmaker, but would Chelsea let him go?

Admittedly, Ziyech’s first season in England was somewhat underwhelming, but injuries played their part, and there’s no way the Blues will recoup the £33.3 million they parted with to bring the ex-Ajax man to Stamford Bridge.

#1 Awoniyi out of Anfield

It’s looking highly likely that Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi will be exiting Liverpool imminently, the only question appears to be where exactly he will end up.

There’s interest from Europe, while the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City have also reportedly made enquiries for his services.

One of his former employers—Mainz—are also understood to be considering a permanent move for the attacker, whose six-year stay at Anfield appears close to an end.
