Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been awarded as the Man of the Year in Sports at the annual Emy Africa Awards.

The Ghana International was named among distinguished men to have contributed in any field.

Partey ward off stern competitions from boxer Wasilu Mohammed, Crystal Palace attacker Jordan Ayew as well as Black Stars Coach CK Akonnor to win the man of the year in Sports Award.

The 27-year-old is currently on the radar of English Premier League side Arsenal and remains one of the most talked-about Ghanaian footballer in recent times due to his performance for both Club and Country.

Representative and spokesperson Samuel Zigah took the award on behalf of the player at the event held at the luxurious Kempiski Hotel in Accra.

The Exclusive Men of the Year Africa Awards honours distinguished African men annually or around Father’s Day.

Some of the Award winners on the Night included Radio Presentor Abieku Santana Ernest Bediako Sampong, popular comedian Clemento Suarez, Rev. Father Campbell, Kwaku Bediako amongst others.
