StarTimes have a five-year deal with the GPL StarTimes have a five-year deal with the GPL

StarTimes Ghana, the Television Right Holders of the Ghana Premier League says they are not in a hurry to see the return of football in the country.

This has been buttressed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the broadcasters Eli Kondoh in response to reports suggesting that StarTimes is putting pressure on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to complete the football season.

Speaking to OTEC FM, the PRO says the Television Right Holders are not talking about restarting the season and such stories making rounds are not true.

“We are not ready to talk about GPL matter. We are still waiting for the government to give us the go-ahead. Those stories are false hope”, Eli Kondoh said.

The 2019/2020 Ghanaian football season has been on hold since March as a precautionary measure against the spread of the deadly Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

The Ghana FA is expected to take a decision on the fate of the season at the end of this month.
