Sprinter Joseph Amoah grabs Accounting degree

Ghanaian sprint champion Joseph Paul Amoah has completed his study programme at the Coppin State University in the United States with a degree in Accounting.

The 23-year-old transferred to the American University from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science of Technology (KNUST) in 2017 – on a scholarship he earned because of his prowess on the tracks.

Amoah posted his graduation photos on his Instagram page earlier Thursday morning with the caption, “Not about where you are, but who you are” signifying the somewhat long journey from Kumasi to the United States.

2019 was Amoah’s breakthrough year. His 10.01s is only 0.03s off the National Record (NR) for 100m set by Leo Myles-Mills (9.98s) years ago.

At the All African Games in 2019, Amoah led his team to win gold in the 4x100m relay race with Sean Safo Antwi, Benjamin Azamati and Martin Owusu Antwi.

Amoah is also one of only two Ghanaian athletes to qualify for the Olympics. The other is Nadia Eke.
