Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku says his administration intends solely wants to focus on improving the standard of the Ghana Premier League during his tenure.

The Ghana Premier League which is currently the FA's flagship program is set to go autonomous as plans are underway to begin the process.

According to Kurt Okraku, the Premier League going autonomous will ensure that the standard of the league improves.

"It is the target of the FA to improve our league and that is why we have decided to play an autonomous league. In this case, organizers of the league will have free hands to work", Kurt Okraku told Germany-based radio station Topical Radio.

He added, “Again, our decision to change the refereeing structure is a step in the right direction. We want to hunt for talented referees and make them better. So going forward, I think we are going to get a better league under my term”.

The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League has been suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The current season is in limbo as there have been calls for the league to be truncated while the Ghana FA is hoping to continue the league behind closed doors.
