Ibrahim Dossey in a Coma.

Relatives of Ibrahim Dossey have been advised that the injuries suffered by the Ghanaian goalkeeper may lead to him suffering permanent disability.

Dossey, 36, has been in a deep coma in a Romania Hospital since crashing his car on Saturday morning. The bronze medallist at the 1992 Olympic Games was operated on arrival at the Bucharest University Hospital.

"His brain has suffered significant trauma," said spokesman University Hospital, Dr. Ana-Maria Rose.

"We cannot conclusively say the extent of injury but there are problems with his spine and eye.

"When he recovers from this very serious condition we can give full details."

Dossey's family were also in his car when it crashed but his wife and two kids were unhurt.

The experienced shot-stopper was voted the best in the Romanian top flight last season.

He signed a two-year extension with his club Targoviste five days ago and was hoping to help them annex the League title.
