West African Football Academy (WAFA) reclaimed top spot in the ongoing Ghana Premier League on Sunday following a heavy win over Hearts of Oak.

The Academicians walloped the Phobians 5-0 in a Week 17 match played at the Sogakope Park.

Majeed Ashimeru opened the flood gates for the home side in the 28th minute after equal exchanges in the first 20 minutes.

Left back Abdul Wahab Ibrahim doubled his side’s lead before the break to keep hopes alive.

WAFA had lost the top spot to Aduana Stars going into this weekend’s round of matches.

A set piece converted by Abukari Ibrahim and a brace from Daniel Lomotey saw the Volta Region-based side open a two-point lead at the top.
