A group of intolerant persons who through their actions, seek to oppress others by instilling fear and pushing their agenda exist within the New Patriotic Party, Former Second Vice Chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe has said.

The ‘cabal’ as he describes them like to assume or perceive that they ‘own’ the system hence can act however they wish, whenever they wish, without recourse to the effect their actions will have on other persons within the same fraternity.

Speaking on ’21 Minutes with KKB’ Mr. Crabbe mentioned that such persons over time, have attempted ‘controlling’ and subduing himself and some others within the party who do don’t share their ideologies or buy their concepts.

“There’s a cabal, a group of people; you don’t have to have personalities in it necessarily but when I say cabal it means there’s a group of people with a certain mindset and sometimes they recruit, sometimes they go off, sometimes they repent, but you always have a group of people who feel that they own the system, they can do whatever they want, they feel that they can instill fear in people and they’ve always been around”

“All my life in NPP, I’ve had to face such people, they come in different forms and shapes but they come in one mentality, to control and they believe that to control means to subdue, subject people” he said.

Persons like himself, in the face of these ‘attempts’ he explained, have challenged and resisted their posturing, resulting in the unfair treatment of some of them.

“What is important is that every time you have these extremists coming in to overthrow the order, we’ve always had people to stand up and fight that”, he stated.

Denying knowlege about the President’s involvement in any such ‘agenda’, the embattled Vice Chair maintained that control rather than suppression he believes is the way forward in fostering unity and growing every party, something that obviously is lacking in the NPP.

“As far as I’m concerned, Akufo-Addo says he knows nothing about what was going on so I think that speaks for itself”, he maintained. “I don’t believe that, I believe control is to liberate people. When you liberate people and you harness their individuality, you will get the best, it’s development in freedom that is what gives power to leadership”.

Sammy Crabbe was suspended indefinitely alongside General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong in 2015 by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party.

Both executives were suspended following a petition submitted to NEC in which some members of the party accused them of undermining the party’s authority by publicly rebelling against the party’s decision to indefinitely suspend National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

Sammy described the decision as illegal and minced no words in chiding the Freddie Blay-led executive which took over from Afoko. Consequently, he was suspended.
