Sports Minister inspects Upper East and West Youth Resource Centres; impress with progress

Minister of Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah has embarked on a comprehensive tour of the Multipurpose Sports Centres being constructed in the Upper East and Upper West regions.

At Wa, the Minister and his delegation made up of the NYA boss and staff of the ministry discovered that the facility is 60% percent completed with all four stands erected.

The Minister after praising the contractor highlighted the role the facility will play in the unearthing of sports talent in that part of the country

"The contractor is on point and I'm glad with what I have seen so far. Talents abound Jere and as you are aware, sports is a great business venture. When you create more stars, the economy grows and that is what government seek to achieve with the construction of multipurpose resources centre of excellence", he said.

Navrongo Youth Resource Centre

The Minister after inspecting the Upper East Youth Resource Centre in Navrongo praised the contractor Benjamin Ngoswini for demonstrating brilliance.

The contractor and his team has so far erected the four spectators stands and has promised to complete the project this April.

The Minister told the media after inspecting the Navrongo facility yesterday that "The contractor is on point, so far, the contractor has impressed me with his quality of work. " We want the facility to stand the test of time; generations unborn should benefit from this facility.

The Navrongo facility, one of the ten centres dotted across the country will have a FIFA standard football field, tartan tracks, volleyball/basketball Courts, ICT/Counselling Centres and a restaurant.

The Minister and Emmanuel Asigri, National Youth Authority (NYA) chief have inspected eight centres-Volta, Eastern, Central, Ashanti, Western Brong Ahafo Regions as well as Wa and Navrongo.

The Kaneshie and Yendi centres are due for inspection in the coming weeks.
