Prince Tagoe rubbishes failed medical claims by his club, set to return to Malaysia

Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has rubbished claims by his Malaysian club Kelantan that he has failed two medical tests and that his contract is on the verge of being cancelled.

The ex-Hearts of Oak striker denied claims by the club’s coach George Boateng that he failed two medical tests while rejecting admits he has fallen foul of two regulations of his club but insists he has not failed a medical and that his contract could not be cancelled.

The Super League side claim they are angry over Tagoe’s decision to return to his native country against advise for him to stay and restore his level of fitness.

The 28-year-old joined the side in April this year after terminating his contract with Tunisian outfit Club Africain.

Tagoe admits that he has been late in arriving in Malaysia but insists his contract will not be cancelled by the club.

“I don’t know where that news is coming from and I don’t know the motive behind it. I also read about it and I was amazed at the story,” Tagoe said.

“The real situation on the ground is that they (Kelantan) wanted me to stay on and train with them since I joined them only a few weeks to the commencement of the World Cup. I told them I wanted to return to Ghana and that I can stay fit here with prescribed training programs.

“Indeed I have overstayed my holidays and even my travelling ticket has expired so they have sent another one and I am supposed to join them later this week, maybe by Friday.

“I know my coaches are not happy with two things and that is me coming to Ghana and overstaying my holidays.

“But for someone to sit somewhere to say that they are also angry because I failed my medical is not the best. I am still here in Ghana so if they wanted the truth and didn’t have any ill motives against me, why didn’t they contact me for my version of the story before putting it out there.”

According to Kelantan football adviser Tan Sri Annuar Moses they will decide on Tagoe’s future in the coming days but the Ghana striker says his future is never in doubt.

“Like I said, I have issues to deal with when I return, but that has nothing to do with cancellation of contract. If they wanted to cancel contract, will they have sent me travelling tickets for my return,” Tagoe asked sarcastically.
