Performance of Ghanaian players in CAF's inter clubs competitions

GHANASoccernet.com African Football Expert Nuhu Adams reports on seven Ghanaian players who helped their sides reach the Group stage of the CAF Champions League.

However, there is a consolation for them with slots in the playoff stage of the Confederation Cup.

In the second-tier competition, four players were in action but Bernard Morisson's Motema Pembe failed to progress to the Group stage.

CAF Champions League

Rahim Osumanu earned a starting place in the ZESCO United lineup and lasted the whole duration when they drew 1-1 with DR Congo giants TP Mazembe on Saturday.

The Tanzanian champions came from a goal down to beat Zambia's Nkana FC 3-1 on Sunday in Dar es Salaam.

Richard Ocran saw all 90 minutes for Nkana FC but couldn't prevent Simba SC from claiming the victory and a group stage spot.

Horoya AC did the unthinkable by overturning a 3-0 first leg deficit to make the group stage of the competition.

They mauled Al-Nasr SC from Libya by 6-2 on Sunday in Conakry.

Ocansey Mandela who started the game as the captain for the Guinean giants was among the goal scorers.

Hudu Yakubu, Godfred Asante and Sebe Baffour Kyei lasted the entire minutes of the fixture whereas Brefo Mensah came on a substitute in the 90th minute.

CAF Confederation Cup

Goalkeeper Nana Bonsu kept a clean sheet to ensure Enugu Rangers advance to the play-off round.

The Nigerian side saw off Algeria's USM Bel Abbes with a 2-0 scoreline Sunday in Enugu.

Salitas FC made it to the play-off round after drew 0-0 with Al Masry SC in Ouagadougou on Saturday. They sailed through with 2-0 aggregate.

Samuel Akwasi Amoto came on in the second half to help the Burkina Faso side.

Torric Jebrin was an unused substitute for the Egyptian outfit.

FC San Pedro beat DC Motema Pembe 2-0 to proceed to the next stage of the competition. The first leg was 1-1 in DR Congo a week ago.

Nana Antwi Manu joined the game in the 70th minute for the Ivorians.

Bernard Morrison also came on in the second half but his contribution wasn't enough to propel Motema Pembe.
