NPP communicators can’t perform when you’ve kept them hungry – Otukonor to Bawumia

A deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Peter Boamah Otukonor has advised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Mawumia not to expect much from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communicators as both government and party have failed in taking good care of them.

Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has suggested that, although the NPP government is making strides in developing the country, it is failing to properly communicate its achievements over the last two years to Ghanaians.

According to the Vice President, government has performed better than any other government in its first two years.

Speaking at a meeting with Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said government’s communication outfit must tell the good stories of the Akufo Addo government.

“There is a very good account of what we have done. But I think sometimes we are not communicating as well to understand what really we have done. It is a feeling we all need to take responsibility for.”

“If you look at what we inherited and what we have done today, it is very significant, he added.

But Peter Boamah Otukonor in an interview with Akwasi Nsiah on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM strongly disagreed with the Vice President’s claims insisting that Ghanaians continue to reel under hardship due to the abysmal performance of the Akufo Addo led government.

He accused government officials of enriching themselves while the party communicators who propagate government programmes and vehemently defend it are sadly left impoverished, adding that even if there are any positives recorded under this government the story cannot be certainly well told by the hungry communicators.

“You’ve kept your party communicators poor since you came to power which led to several of them in the Ashanti Region publicly burning their mobile phones in protest of the bad treatment meted them. You the Vice President, you are there eating and making your life better but the living conditions of your communicators worsen by the day and you expect them to go on the media and defend the party? How can hungry communicators defend the government especially when most of your claims are false.”
