More injury trouble for Ghana as Adams is forced off early in Bundesliga fixture

The centre-back picked up an injury while in club action on Saturday, a week to the Black Stars' Afcon qualifier against Kenya. Ghana have received another worrying news ahead of next week's Africa Cup of Nations clash with Kenya as TSG Hoffenheim defender Kasim Adams limped out of Saturday's German Bundesliga fixture against Freiburg.

The centre-back was replaced in the first half after picking up an injury in Die Kraichgauer's 3-1 home victory.

He becomes the third injury doubt for the September 8 tie, alongside Inter Milan midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah and FC Metz defender John Boye.

Adams was handed a second straight appearance by manager Julian Nagelsmann in Saturday's fixture, having joined the club in the summer from Swiss side Young Boys.

The 23-year-old's joy soon turned sour as he picked up the injury, prompting his withdrawal a minute to half-time.

Adam Szalai's second half double and Andrej Kramaric's stoppage time effort, however, sealed a comeback win for the home side after Dominique Heintz gave the visitors a first-half lead.

Nagelsmann's post-match comments have hung a cloud over Adams' availability for Ghana's Afcon qualifier, having told pressmen the club "fear the worst" with regards to the injury.

Inter star Asamoah may have returned to action on Saturday but it is currently unclear if he would be available for national assignment as it is feared he may be asked by the Nerazzurri to catch some rest during the international break after an injury concern earlier this week.

Boye, on the other hand, is reported to have no chance of making a quick return from an injury picked up while in club action on Tuesday.
