Ghana's second-tier clubs have filed a petition to the Ghana Football Association, seeking a suspension of the 2019/20 FA Cup over lack of transparency in the sponsorship package.
The Division One Clubs are unhappy with the lack of financial disclosure and want it frozen until clarity is brought to the ensuing drama.
The petition, signed by 24 clubs are seeking amongst others an immediate suspension of the MTN FA Cup, a full disclosure of the MTN sponsorship agreement and a meeting with the Executive Council to fashion out how much each participant will be entitled to.
"An immediate suspension of the MTN FA Cup competition. Full disclosure of the MTN sponsorship agreement. A consultative meeting with your good self and the Executive Council to fashion how much each participant will be entitled to." portion of the petition read.
The clubs are seething with rage over claims there has been a lack of transparency in how much the telecommunication giants is pumping into the tournament.
The draw for the prestigious tournament was held last week in Accra but there has not been any clear disclosure on how much is involved in this year's competition.
